MISSION
To prepare our students to lead rewarding personal, academic and professional lives as responsible citizens of the world. |
Philosophy
In 1970, a group of visionary professionals with a diverse set of specializations founded Colegio Inglés . Their mission was to offer an innovative approach to a co-ed bilingual education, immersing students in an environment that would allow them to communicate and learn in both English and Spanish. Since that time, Colegio Inglés has evolved in response to the changing needs of its students.
Today's Colegio Inglés students will study, work and live in an increasingly global society. They will encounter opportunities and confront challenges of global proportions, and will be expected to resolve problems that reach beyond borders and extend across cultures and languages. Consequently, we can no longer be content to teach our students to master only subject area skills and knowledge. In addition, we must ensure that our students learn to apply and transfer to new situations the principles of ethics, habits of mind, critical thinking skills, research strategies and technology concepts that will enable them to approach these opportunities, challenges and problems with both confidence and competence.
Achieving this goal requires that all members of the Colegio Inglés community -students, staff, parents and alumni- commit their efforts and expertise to maintaining a learning organization that focuses continuously and relentlessly on students' success in the intellectual, creative, affective, socio-ethical, aesthetic and physical areas.
In order to honor our commitment to our students the Colegio Inglés community willingly assumes responsibility for engaging in an ongoing process of learning and research, and encourages and supports the efforts of others to do the same.
Therefore, our teaching methodology nurtures learning through a hands-on approach based on cognitive processes, as well as cooperative, project based, thematic and interdisciplinary learning, which allows students to become life-long learners. Knowledge is constructed in a secure environment that is defined by moral values and ethical behavior through an atmosphere of cooperation and respect for the individual in a multicultural framework.
By holding ourselves to global standards and immersing our students in a culture of collaborative, continuous learning, we can be confident that our students will leave Colegio Inglés prepared to build and maintain rewarding personal, academic and professional lives.
