SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Colegio Inglés is a distinctive community of professionals and parents concerned with providing the finest possible preparation for students' future. Bound by common goals and aspirations, school staff has created an environment where academic achievement is valued, and each child's individual interests are encouraged and rewarded.

When a student needs help, it is provided by a network of concerned professionals. When a student succeeds, these accomplishments are recognized, reinforcing the student's self-esteem. As a result, the school becomes an extension of family. Students explore ideas and feelings within a secure environment, under the guidance of caring adults.

Teachers

Colegio Inglés staff, composed of local and foreign certified teachers, participates in training programs in México and abroad. Their diverse backgrounds and cosmopolitan view enrich the institution.

Teachers are highly committed to the school's philosophy. They actively seek out students' unique characteristics, motivating them to take full advantage of their strengths and to develop new skills and interests. An important outgrowth of the close teacher/student/parent relationship is trust. Students and parents look upon teachers as allies in education.

Students

Most students are Mexican nationals. However, an increasingly diverse population of students from other countries enriches our global environment.

After our graduates finish high school, the great majority complete university studies in Mexico or abroad. For this reason, we hold our students to high academic standards.

Since most of our students attend Colegio Ingles from Preschool through 9th grade, they become a close-knit community. Students learn to appreciate one another´s unique qualities and skills and take advantage of opportunities to share with and learn from their schoolmates. The relationships that students form during their years at Colegio Ingles last long after they graduate.

Parents

Colegio Inglés parents are typically highly educated and are determined that their children receive the best education available. Although many parents speak and/or understand English, others communicate only in Spanish. If our international parents do not speak English or Spanish, a translator may assist them in communicating with the school.

We welcome and encourage parents' involvement in their child's education. Parents are invited to share their experience and expertise in classrooms through story telling, as guest speakers, and by arranging field trips relevant to the curriculum. Parents can also contribute to the school by becoming members of APAFCI (Asociación de Padres de Familia de Colegio Inglés). APAFCI is responsible for organizing and carrying out major school-wide events such as Christmas Parties, Talent Show, Colegio Inglés Fair, Mother's Day Breakfast, and Teachers' Day Luncheon.

As integral members of the school/home partnership, parents are expected to uphold the principles expressed in the school philosophy. They have opportunities to demonstrate their support for their child's progress and achievement by attending Open House, Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences (PTCs), Science Fair, sports tournaments and special student presentations.
